LOS ANGELES - Powerful winds buffeted California again
Tuesday, uprooting trees, causing power outages from
San Francisco Bay to San Diego and fanning fires.
Thousands of Californians were hit by electrical
outages as the windstorm tore down power poles or
electrical lines were snagged by trees crashing to the
ground.
The winds began to ease in some places after two days
of huffing and puffing, but the National Weather
Service said portions of the mountains, valleys and
coast of southwest California would be affected by
high winds through Thanksgiving day.
Twenty tractor-trailers were blown over on Interstate
15 in Cajon Pass, a major route for travel across the
desert between the Los Angeles region and Nevada and
Arizona.
