Hello,
The storm currently moving out of the North East
US brought us, here in Baiting Hollow NY, .71" of rain
with a maximum rainfall rate of .60"/hr. The storm
also delivered with high winds. The 10-min. wind
speeds reached up to 23mph. this morning, with 1-min.
wind speeds reaching ~35mph. The storm delivered a
record high wind gust, for the year, to my station of
47mph. (My dad's was the station that reached 51mph.
back when Hurricane Gustav passed by in September)
Wind chills, as reported by my Monitor II, plummited
from 50º Friday night to 15º this morning. The lowest
wind chill of 8º was a season low. The rainfall from
the storm caused 'ponds' formed by the previous storm
to swell, in some cases, to over 200 feet in diameter
and near five feet deep.
I also noted that there were 23' seas reported by
several off shore bouys and a high wind gust near
55mph. The highest wind gust I could find in the
North East was out on Cape Cod at 63mph. The storms
core pressure dropped to 28.78"hg when it passed near
Prince Edwards Island in Canada earlier today and
there was even a station in central Maine that
reported 28.85"hg. this morning.
