UPDATE: http://www.weathermatrix.net/2002/1029/1030.html
New Webcam shots, Digital Cam Pics, Radar Loops
Light snow and freezing rain continued to redevelop and move over the
county all day today, Wednesday 10/30/2002 across central Pennsylvania
(this entire winter event continues to be mostly confined to PA & southern
NY state). Here at WeatherMatrix HQ we have been between 33 and 34 degrees
for more than a day now. Heavier snow this evening has dropped another
inch of snow in the last hour.
Research has confirmed that this was the earliest fall snow in State
College, PA since 1977 and snow (other than a trace) has only fallen here
in October once since then. Having an icestorm in October is even more
rare. But that's what we've got, limbs are down and one tree crushed a car
a few miles from WeatherMatrix HQ last night. This season's late fall color
is still going on and few trees have lost their leaves, making the
situation worse. Scattered power outages are being reported and the
freezing drizzle today has drawn many limbs to the ground. One main radio
station in town is off-air.
WTAJ-TV.com reports "PENNDOT is reporting a number of area roadways have
been closed because of falling trees and danger to motorists. Many roads
will be closed overnight and into Thursday morning."
From Centredaily.com:
"Approximately 1 to 3 inches of snow fell on Tuesday, and more snow is
predicted for this week.
Multiple accidents were reported around Centre County, according to state
police at Rockview.
State College and Ferguson Township also reported weather-related
accidents. Isolated outages were reported in Centre Hall, Bellefonte,
Julian and Aaronsburg. The power company could not estimate late Tuesday
night when power would be restored."
