For the first time in 7 years, October will go down here as an
exceptonally wet month. In fact, this October is wetter than the
previous 4 Octobers combined. (That fact was brought up by WRC's
meteorologist Bob Ryan on Monday.)
My previous October totals were 1.88" (1998); 1.66" (1999); .17" (2000);
and .53" (2001) for a total of 3.24".
So far this month, i have measured 4.43". The current storm began early
Monday, and 1.03" has fallen since then. On Tuesday, .93" fell. Moderate
rain fell between 10am & 3:30pm, with lt/mod rain between 5pm & 10pm.
Drizzle & sprinkles continue today.

Temperatures with the current cold air damming have forced the
temperatures down into the 30's here. The daytime temp Tue was about
37º (where it is today as well). It was March 22nd the last time the
afternoon temp was in the 30's. The record cold high for Tuesday was 47,
& we tied it (12:01am temp). The record cold high today is is 50º, and
it is very likely we will break it. Normals are 62 & 40 in late Oct.
With the cold air in place snow fell as far south as the PA mnts. The
deepest amount i could find from NWS reports was 3.5" in Kane (McCean
Co) in nw PA.
Locally Freezing Rain & drizzle fell in higher elevations. The freezing
level was at 2500' yesterday evening and was down to 1500' this morning,
according to NWS statements on the situation.

And the forecast for the weekend: Blustery & January like... winds
gusting to 35mph Sat w/ air temps about 38, And scattered snow showers.
The record lows for Sunday & Monday am are 20 & 21 respectively. Both
are in danger, but more so Sunday's.
And i saw the 8-14 day outlook: above normal precip, below normal
precip. Do i sense a snowstorm in that? We'll see.
