Published Friday 10/18/02 11:00 AM EDT The statewide cool spot was 38 deg.
at Chipley in the Panhandle north. I had forecasted mid 30's for inland
rural areas of the north. so was off a little due to wind. Other minimum
temperatures across the north include 40 deg. at Jay, 42 deg. at Crestview
and 44 deg. at Alachua.

The cool spot on the central peninsula was 46 deg. at Mount Plymouth, with
Brooksville right behind at 47 deg. Here in Plant City east of Tampa it
dropped to 51 deg.

The cool spot on the southern peninsula was 54 deg. at Archbold, with Punta
Gorda second at 57 deg.

Fall finally arrived in Florida early this morning with temperatures dipping
into the mid to upper 40's across the north and low to mid 50's central. The
cool spot this morning was 44 deg. at Alachua in the peninsular north.
Brooksville was the cool spot on the central peninsula with 52 deg. Here in
Plant City east of Tampa it was 55 deg.

Friday morning 10/18/02 should be even cooler with mid to upper 30's in
inland rural areas of the north and mid to upper 40's in the inland rural
areas of the central peninsula west of U.S. 27 and north of S.R. 60. A
warming trend will begin on Saturday 10/19/02.
