in grantham, a suburb of metropolitan harrisburg in south central pa, we
measured just under 2.5" of refreshing and much-needed rain this past
weekend, mostly saturday night where a moderate series of thunderstorms
continued for several hours. Several trout-breeder streams in the area which
had stopped flowing (one that runs through my back yard) were again flowing
nicely.
informal conversations with associates in the area indicated that anywhere
from 2" to 3.5" of rain had fallen.
we here are keeping a hopeful eye that isidore will contribute significantly
to our reservoirs and water tables (the well-drilling companies around here
are having a banner year with the number of wells that have dried up)
take a look at penn state's Atlantic IR image (link below) showing the
moisture potential being forged by isidore. hopefully, this storm will go a
long way to reduce the severity of drought along its path.
