"TAIPEI/BEIJING (Reuters) - A typhoon that left two people missing in
Taiwan hit China with strong winds and heavy rain on Saturday, forcing the
evacuation of around 80,000 people, many in the country's cradle of private
business.
Typhoon Sinlaku, which swept across northern Taiwan on Friday and Saturday,
hit the coast of southeastern China early Saturday night, dumping heavy
rain and whipping up tall waves, state television reported.

The typhoon, with a diameter of 300 miles, had picked up speed but had also
weakened as it approached China, the Taiwan weather office said. The storm
packed sustained winds of 90 mph and gusts of up to 110 mph and was
expected to dump up to 27 inches of rain on Taiwan."
