Well a tornado warning was issued for Jones county, my county, at about
8:04 tonight until 9pm a tornado was spotted on the ground aprox. 5
miles northwest of Center Junction, Iowa, or 3 miles north of Central
Park, Or 8 miles southeast of Monticello. The National Weather Service
in the Quad Cities was calling this tornado a "warm air funnel" it
stumped tv stations who were on the air live and they went nuts to try
to figure out what a warm air funnel was so they ended up calling it a
cold air funnel so people would understand. The tornado then went back
up in the clouds and numerous funnels were observed, then again near
Wyoming it came back down and at 8:42 a tornado was reported over
Wyoming, Iowa shortly there after it went back up in the clouds and
numerous funnels were reported on it's way down towards Oxford Junction.
One funnel went right over my house around 8:59pm. Shortly after the
storm exited the county it weakened majorly. Currently no damage has
been reported but surveying has been called off till morning. We
recived 1.47 inches of rain here at my house in this storm, winds gusted
to 30mph when the funnels went over and marble size hail was observed.
This is the second tornadic event to strike this part of Iowa this week.
