[STORMREPORTS] FL Cold Front

From: Thomas Giella, FMCI (fmci{at}tampabay.rr.com)
Date: Thu Aug 08 2002 - 12:07:31 EDT

An early season back door cold front moved through central Florida
yesterday. Interaction between the front, an upper level disturbance and
T.S. Cristobal dumped 2-3" rainfall amounts across the central peninsula.
Overnight unseasonably dry air filtered in and allowed minimum temperatures
to fall into the low to mid 60's across the north and central inland areas.
The cool spot was 60 deg. at Middleburg. Here in Plant City I observed 67
deg, noticeably cooler then yesterday mornings humid and stormy 75 deg.
minimum temp..
T.S. Cristobal did finally make an easterly turn away from land, while
downgraded T.D. Bertha has emerged back out into the western Gulf Of Mexico
and bears watching for reintensification as moves ashore somewhere along the
central Texas gulf coast. A tropical disturbance near Puerto Rico bears
watching and could become a threat to Florida and the S.E. U.S. early next
week.
