I just checked the 850mb charts for that region of the world (Persian
Gulf/Red Sea). Temps were as high as 30 degrees Celsius!! Drop that
down dry-adiabatically and you easily get 113 degrees F. Couple that
with the high dewpoints found in that region, and heat indices
approaching 130 degrees F are quite achievable!
