"More than 20,000 homes in the metro area were left powerless by high
winds, strong rain and thunderstorms Sunday afternoon.
About 16,000 of those were in Oakland and Wayne counties. A Detroit Fire
Department official said the department followed up for hours after the
storm ended on calls about downed power lines and other hazards. The
National Weather Service said winds exceeded 50 m.p.h. Sunday afternoon."
