Re: [STORMREPORTS] Drought

Hi. The drought along the immediate Mason Dixon Line is the worst the locals
have seen in nearly 100 years. At my home station Smithsburg, MD. 2 NE (15
miles NE of Hagerstown, MD.) the rainfall deficit for the year is 7.38
inches. The rainfall deficit since the drought started in July 1998 has hit a
mind boggling 43.49 inches. In 2001 I had my driest year in more than a
quarter century with many streams which were one to two feet deep being bone
dry since September. Wide spread well failures with several municipalities
has issuing water restrictions.
