"MANILA (Reuters) - Officials in the Philippines said on Saturday a week of
typhoons and monsoon rains had killed at least six more people in the
southeast Asian nation, taking the death toll there to 51.
Landslides and flooding from four typhoons -- Rammasun, Chata'an, Nakri and
Halong -- killed around 100 people this week as they churned through the
Pacific Ocean past Micronesia, the Philippines, China, the Koreas and Japan.

Halong, with winds gusting to 121 mph, was whirling in the Pacific Ocean
off the main Philippine island of Luzon on Saturday, around 900 miles
northeast of Manila.

Agriculture undersecretary Ernesto Ordonez said flooding and too much water
damaged some $5.82 million worth of rice, corn and other crops, fisheries
and livestock.
Officials said 43 people had been injured and nearly 10,000 people who had
fled their flooded homes remained in public shelters."
