Winchester VA, Fri 7-12-02
The mini heat wave earlier this week brought temperatures to 96 on

A sharp but slow moving east west cold front drifted south from PA Tue
night into Wednesday, bringing a few severe thunderstorms in the
northern part of my county that treked to the Martinsburg WV area. Wind
gusts with those storms reached:
36mph at Winchester (VA) Regional Airport
31mph at Clarke Co HS, Berryville VA
40mph at Musselman HS (Inwood WV) w/ 1.03" rain
Valley View MS, (Middleburg MD) 34mph
Eastern Regional Airport (Martinsburg WV) 46mph, with 1.11" rain

Temperatures only reached the 70's to low 80's in much of VA Thursday.
Dewpoint temperatures were only in the 40s during the afternoon in the
northern portions. My Thursday high was only 77, just 4º above the
coldest 7/11 high recorded here.
On Thursday night, temperatures plunged, reaching the 40's at many rural
stations at dawn Friday.

Temperatures this afternoon continue well below the normal of 87.

My low was 52º, and the high was 81º. At the Winchester Regional
Airport, the am low was 48, the high today was 84.
Dewpoint temp was 50 at 5pm, so another chilly night in store.
No rain is the NWS 7 day forecast, and temperatures will return to the
upper 80's Sunday and to the mid 90s by mid next week.
My rain this month has been only .21", or 14% MTD normal.
