Lightning sparks fires at 4 Charlotte sites (Charlotte Observer)

"harlotte firefighters had a busy Fourth of July, extinguishing four fires
sparked by lightning, and one by fireworks.

The lightning strikes were part of several thunderstorms that rolled
through the Charlotte region Thursday afternoon, dumping hail and as much
as 2 1/2 inches of rain in some areas, said Steve Burrus, meteorologist for
the Greenville-Spartanburg office of the National Weather Service."
