Two severe thunderstorms passed through the city of State College, PA,

The first storm came through at 12:45pm. A Severe Thunderstorm Warning
was issued while the storm was still in Clearfield County. Very strong
sustained winds were noted with this storm.
Several periods of strong rotation in different areas of the clouds
above my location were observed. We saw several solid cloud-to-ground
lightning strikes. Quickly after observing the rotation, the south end
of the storm started breaking up and the lightning stopped.
The second storm came through at 3:30pm. A Severe Thunderstorm Warning
was issued while the storm as the storm approached Centre County. Heavy
rain, high winds and frequent lightning were observed during the storm.
14 Cloud-To-Ground lightning strikes were pegged by GAI within 1 mile of
WeatherMatrix HQ during the second storm. On our personal lightning
detector, we recorded the following stats Thursday, which are records or
near-records for this station:
Total strokes: 112,063
Total strong strokes: 583
Peak stroke count: 1236 per minute at 3:43:07 PM
