"Blazing heat was the
story across the entire country on Wednesday. Temperatures hit 100
degrees as far north as southern British Columbia! East of the Rockies,
the
heat was topped off with sweltering humidity. The big cities from
Washington,
D.C., to Boston had one of their hottest days so far this summer. With
the
heat and humidity combined, air temperatures in the middle 90s felt more
like 105 degrees! Thunderstorms were particularly strong in the New York
City area. After a high temperature of 95, severe thunderstorms blasted
through the Big Apple, downing trees and power lines in the Bronx. "
