VINEYARD, Jamaica - Alcya Myers peers out of her one-bedroom house that she
shares with seven other people as a relief team pulls up, offering supplies
and help after weeks of flooding.
Heavy rains have drenched this coastal parish where residents work day and
night, bailing buckets of water from their wooden homes, and wading through
waist-high waters, risking attack from crocodiles.
Forecasters said Thursday the rains would let up over the weekend, but much
damage has already been done.
The estimated damage is said to be about dlrs 20 million.
