China Flood Toll Rises to at Least 38 (Reuters)
"Floods in central and western China have killed at least 38 people and
more than 100 are
missing, state media reported on Tuesday.
The newspaper said [a] 490 foot bridge collapsed just three minutes
after a train crossed it.
The floods have inundated 1,400 homes and destroyed more than 1,200
acres of cropland in the wheat growing area, it said.
Flooding like this has rarely been seen in history," he said. "The
average precipitation was about 300 mm (12 inches) in just one day." "
