We, too, had just about every kind of weather imaginable on Friday 3-8-02, in
south central Nebraska!
It drizzled most of the day, turning to light rain about 2:00 PM. Then the
Temp dropped about 15-20 degrees, and by 4:00 it was freezing rain. The
highways were very slick resulting in a fatal car accident just north of
Geneva, Nebraska, killing a 17 year old member of our parish. By 6:00 we had
sleet, by 7:00 we had severe lightning and VERY loud thunder, accompanying
pea-sized hail, which then turned back into sleet and snow needles. Total
accumulation was hard to measure because the wind was blowing 25-30 MPH with
gusts to 50. Visibility zero. What they hey! It's Nebraska!!!!
