Snow totals, (other than the immediate lakeshore) here in the NE Ohio
snowbelt, have been pathetic.
The Chesterland/Chardon area normally sees, by now, 50" - 60" of snow (much
being lake-effect). This area is the snow capital of Ohio, averaging 95" -
105" of snow annually.
So far we have seen between 5" and 10" this entire season!!! However, areas
near the lakeshore (Ashtabula, Painesville, Perry, & Mentor have between 18"
and locally 40" on the ground.
Most of that fell on Saturday, the 29th. The ever so persistant WSW winds,
kept the snow along the immediate lakeshore.
However, this weekend shows potential as we may have a nice lake enhanced
synoptic snow, followed by more substantial Lake Effect Snows, though I
doubt it will be anything near what the lakeshore received last weekend (let
alone what Buffalo got during the whole of last week).
Most of the heavier snow, according to the models, will likely stay to our
East. I think this thing will hug or stay just off the Mid Atlantic coast.
NE Ohio will experience backlash show showers and squalls that could very
well be lake enhanced. Hopefully, this storm will not go out to sea like
this last one.
I feel that we, over the next few months, will either get slammed a number
of times or set some kind of snow drought record.
I hope for the former.
