The cold spot in the state this morning was 28 deg. at Crestview in the
peninsula north. The cold spot in the state for 12/31/01 was 30 deg. at
Marianna in the peninsula north and Perry in the non peninsula north. It
did drop into the low 30's this morning into the inland rural areas of
Central Florida!
If the latest AVN 850 mb temp model run verifies, with -7c to
Ocala, -5c to Tampa and 0c to West Palm Beach, it will mean low 20's north
central mid 20's central and a more significant freeze into the mid and
upper 20's in the south central citrus belt "IF" we get radiational cooling
early Friday morning.
Also I think the southern snow storm might be being overforecasted.
Usually these systems do drop 2-6" of snow across the Florida panhandle west
of Tallahassee if all comes together. However, so far the phasing, stacking
and rapid cyclogenesis strengthening is not occurring yet.
