Blizzard blacks out southern Russia

MOSCOW, Dec 19, 2001 (United Press International via COMTEX) -- A huge
snow and ice storm has
battered large parts of southern Russia along the Black Sea coast,
plunging subtropical resorts
around the town of Sochi into darkness and leaving hundreds of thousands
of people without
electricity, heating or transportation.
