While TS Gabrielle is taking a bead on Florida's West coast, the lower
Florida Keys and Key West have experienced high winds and rain. Much of the
rain associated with the system came through 9/13. My location recorded .93
on 9/13 and saw sustained winds of 19mph through much of the early evening
of 9/13 and into the night. Thus far today, 9/14, I've recorded only .34
precip. However, the winds have been clocked at 20mph and their was a gust
early this morning of 28mph. This morning I saw evidence of wind damage...
broken tree limbs and the like. I also saw coastal flooding of at least
three feet of water around the tourist bureau's southernmost point. The
barometer was 29.63 when I did obs this morning at 0700. The tropical storm
warning will likely continue throughout the day. All schools in Monroe
County are closed. Otherwise, life goes on.

Local statements are also being issued.
