Serious flooding has resulted from heavy rains that
have inundated Johannesburg and Cape Town in recent
days. Flash flooding has caused thousands to evacuate
low lying areas. Traditionally August is one of South
Africa's driest months. Cape Town received 1.10" of
rain in a 24 hour period ending Wednesday well above
it's monthly average of .27 .
