High pressure in New England and low pressure off the Mid Atlantic
coast are causing a strong on-shore flow in the New Jersey and
Delaware beaches. Winds over 25 knots and waves up to 8 feet have
been occuring all day long and will continue through Friday. Rip
currents have also been reported and minor tidal flooding is also
possible, right through Friday evening.
Heavy surf advisories are posted as well as small craft advisories.
There have been several reports of rip tides, noteably in Sandy Hook
and Beach Haven with a lifeguard rescue that occured about 5:45pm in
Cape May (caught on local TV station live cam). Apparently the force
of a wave knocked him over and he had a serious neck injury.
Plus, flooding at times of high tide will occur along the shore and
back bays due to the heavy surf, strong astronomical tides, and a new
moon. Move any objects subject to flooding.

Be safe and listen to the lifeguards again tomorrow.
