The local health board and National Weather Service forecast office
has issued a HEAT WARNING for the Delaware valley for Saturday and
Sunday afternoons. Highs are expected to be in the mid 90s, but when
combined with humidity, the forecast heat index will be between 100
and 105, and could even approach 110 in Center City, Philadelphia!
This weekend will be the hottest so far this year, and people are
trying to cool off at the Jersey shore, but it will be in the 90s
there too.
Tomorrow's ozone forecast in some areas is 'UNHEALTHY' or an ozone
action day. The heat stress index for Saturday will be a 9.9 or an
extreme, on a scale of 1-10! Definitley stay in air conditioning
tomorrow because this heat can prove fatal.
A cold front will hopefully move through on Sunday and cool us down,
but we could pay the price with strong thunderstorms. But, not before
another day with a heat warning, mid 90s temps and a heat index from
100 to 105 on Sunday.
