Well my initial target was Moline,IL but after talking to my friend Keenan we
decided on Galesburg,IL. As I arrived just east of Whiteside County SPC issued a
Tornado Watch box until 9:00cdt. So I hit my first storm in Henry County with 0
visisbilty. This storm was nothing more than a heavy rain maker. As I was coming
in to meet them guys in Galesburg on I-74 saw some nice Mammatus so I tried to
get this on video while we were at the Hardee's to get a bite to eat. I have not
looked at that part of my video just yet to see how it turned out
Dan called Joe Coita and there was a warning on a cell to our east so we take
after it. Well we could see nice sharp knuckling of the tops and they were being
slightly tilted to the north but we caould never really catch up to it so we
decide to get a data check. We were stopoped on the side of a country road near
Kewaunee,IL and started to see some CC's and CG's to the north and being it was
dark decided to try and get some lighting video. Well Dan and I caught some very
nice and good quality video of a couple of CG's and these pics will make
Lighting Boy proud of me when he see's the pic.
Final Thoughts:
It was nice to see one of my forecast verify (Finally :) and to get some cool
lighting video. Yes no tornado's but yet in my eyes a successful chase.
