Winchester VA
Was busy this past weekend, here is the weather summary.
Fri 4-27
After missing midday clouds & having sunny afternoon skies, i thought i
would nothing to film skywise. About 4pm, more cumulus moved in, With
the heating of the day, isolated showers formed.
By 6pm, occasional lightning strokes were on the AM radio. The few
t-showers that did form were under 10 miles in diameter, & had a shelf
life of 5-30 minutes.
None the less a few decent shots.
#1: 6:10pm, Underside of a passing cumulus, rainfree at my location.

This thundershower was pruducing brief flare ups of heavy rain in WV, 30
miles to N & NE.

miles NW, moving ESE.

Sat 4-28
Only a few cirrus on the eastern horizon, which were gone before i got
home from work. High was 67.1º at 2:43pm, the low 46.1º at 11:56pm.
PWG of 22mph was at 10:31am. The low windchill was 38 at 8:04am. Low
humidity was 19%.
The drying conditions, along with very low humidity contributed to
another mountain fire. This one was in Berkeley Co WV, about 75 miles NW
of Washington DC.
I checked several media sources, & no one bothered to update for the
story (at least for the web), so this is what i heard on the scanner.
Initial dispatch about 7:15pm, & over next hour, additional units were
dispatched, one by one. At 8:40pm, general dispatch for volunteers from
5 counties in 3 states. About 10:30pm, i think there was "contained"
announcement. Some units returned to stations about 1am Sun, more about
4am. A fire truck was summoned again about 7pm Sun, but nothing was
found.
No idea on size, cause, any injuries, or loss of property.

Sun 4-29
A cloudless day, start to finish. Frost warnings were in affect for the
predawn hours...
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/VA_StormNet/message/11871 The morning
lows supported rural frost...
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/VA_StormNet/message/11873 And radiational
cooling: Low at Dulles 8º warmer than LWX Sterling NWS office, only a
mile separates the locations.
Sun stats:

generated day's low windchill of 34º at 2:25am. Barometer peaked at
30.60" at 10am.

Blue skies means i took one of the dwindling supply of spring pix. A
bird grabs a snack near a bed of wildflowers.

No rain & temperatures approaching 90º at mid week should keep the
pollen high all week.
