Winchester VA
Although no new record lows were recorded Wed morning across VA, the
daytime high was tied for the coldest here on April 18th.
Previously, the coldest high was 48 in 1986, met again at the airport
Wed.
According to my records, my high that day was 50, with an east wind. The
next day a south wind to 40mph pushed temps to 75º, and a NWS 90% POP
of thunderstorms never happened!
My low Wed was 34.1º at 6:53am, the high was 49.3º at 3:39pm. The
PWG was 28mph at 1:28pm. At the airport, peak sustained wind was 28mph,
and a PWG of 38mph. Low windchill was 11º at 4:23am. Pollen count was
23 for trees, despite the Artic blast.
At about 11:30pm Tue evening, the construction site of the new DC
Convention Center collapsed. Some say wind caused the collapse, others

For the 2nd evening in a row, a quick shot from a passing snow shower.
One thing is certain: if your not outside or watching live radar, you
will miss it. It only lasted 10 minutes, and the flakes wet & fluffy.

Snow is not in the forecasts now, i guess until Oct or later. Temps will
return to near seasonable normals of 63 today, 70 Fri, and reaching the
80s by Sun & Mon. No more cold air is in the mid-term forecasts.
