SARASOTA COUNTY - A portion of I-75 has been closed between exits 33 and 34
due to heavy smoke from wildfires.Fire crews are trying to gain the upper
hand on the fire that has burned over 3,000 acres in Sarasota County. Fire
officials say it started when high winds whipped a controlled burn out of
control. Residents of Northport are fleeing the fires as they approach. One
home has been destroyed and many more are at risk of going up in flames.
