SPC had a us in the slight risk factor all day. With downsloping winds,
temperatures raced to the 90º mark statewide (except near the water).
Petersburg VA had the hot spot in the state with 97º!.

A squall line formed in OH & PA in the early afternoon & moved toward VA
about 8pm. There were 7 severe thunderstorm warnings issued by the
Sterling VA NWS, the last 2 for VA. Damage was not reported in VA, but
light damage was reported elsewhere in the LWX CWA.

Before the storm, records were met at every _official_ ob station,
except Reagan National Aprt, (which missed the record by a degree).
Monday's records, (with old records in parenthesis)
Dulles 89º (85 in 1991)
Lynchburg 87º (tie from 1929)
Richmond 92º (90 in 1959)
Ronoake 86º (86 in 1959)
It was partly sunny here, then became cloudy about 5pm, as the exhaust
moved in. The low of 52.8º was at 6:57am. The high was 89.2º, at
4:06pm. DP reached 63 at midday. PWG was 31mph at 8:48pm. Heat index was
88º.
The daily record from the local airport was broken by 2º, however the
airport thermometer was n/a from noon to 9pm Mon. WINC radio, which acts
as the "official NWS station" for here, does not keep or use the daily
temp records. They said the all time April hot day was 95º, on
4-20-1941.
The storm produced a light rain totalling .10" between 8:30 & 10:30pm, &
quite a light show.

In PA, widespread reports of hail was reported. The most noted report
was from Plain Grove PA in Lawrence Co PA. A 3:15pm report of .88"
diameter hail covered the ground 2" deep. A tornado warning was in
affected, but none was reported.
There was a funnel reported, & a 2nd report of a tornado in York Co PA,
but i did not see any follow up statements late Tue night.

Tue 4-10
The sky varied from parly sunny to cld. A trace of rain about noon, &
.09" from an evening thundershower centered over Shenandoah Co. Both
were leftovers of earlier severe wx in the midwest.
The wind returned to the north about 5am, and daytime temps were 20º
cooler. The high was 69.9º at 3:57pm, the low was 57.2º at 11:31am.
PWG was 13mph at 11;58am.

Only 1 record noted: Ronoake reached 86, (beating the 84º record from
1955)
There was 3 thunderstorm warnings in VA Tue eve, producing 2 hail
reports (see Monday story).
