Up to a foot of snow is expected here in parts of western North Carolina today along with winds sustained 35 to 45 mph and gusts to 60. White-out conditions are occurring all across the mountains and driving has become dangerous not only with snow, but downed trees and power lines from the wind. Here in Asheville, we have close to 2 inches this morning, with more to come over the next few hours. Winds are expected to continue to be major and we have a high wind warning, and a winter storm warning in effect over the area.
