[STORMREPORTS] Storm Status As CASI HQ

We are going to get a break in the heavy snow now as we are in the dry
slot - until the western line hits us overnight.

So far - a mere 3" of the expected 16-24". We started out way too warm
today, and it didn't drop below freezing until 4pm. Wet snow crushed
wet snow and accumulation was light.

But now it has, and accumulation is going to be rapid overnight as the
western precip shield is denser and the ground is colder.

One thing I'd like to say. The snows that we get here in PA are
generally dry with small flakes. The last snow we had was what, at 10
or 15F and just kind of blew around. This storm is NOT. It's WET, it's
HEAVY, like snows that we used to have in the Carolinas. This spells
two things: SLICK roads and possible POWER OUTAGES, esp. if the wind
increases before this is over, which it no doubt will. This stuff is
sticking to everything, I had to go clear the snow from the anemometers
this afternoon, even though it was warm enough to melt, it was just too
thick and sticky.

So my advice in central PA is to get your Flashlights & Lanterns ready,
because it could get nasty.

CAMS should be viewable overnight due to new snowfall.

SHOULD CASI HQ suffer a power outage, StormReports could not be
moderated until I can get out to a computer, and the CASICAMs and
WeatherStations would stop transmitting, but the CASI site should go on
(unless of course they lose power in Pittsburgh too, where it is hosted
;))
