"Heavy blizzard strands flights in South Korea"
(Source: Reuters, 2/15/01)
SEOUL - The heaviest snowfall in 32 years in South Korea brought most
air travel in and out of the country to a standstill on Thursday,
airline
and airport officials said. Kimpo International Airport began banning
inbound flights from 0430 GMT because stranded airplanes packed the
runway, officials said.
Snowfall measured 21.2 cm (8.4 inches) as of 0500 GMT in the capital
Seoul, the most since 1969, with another five to 15 cm expected on
Thursday, according to the Korea Meteorological Administration.
