Winchester VA
As expected, Virginia's high temperatures broke records through out the
state. However, none of the records were in the southeast side, probably
an effect of the Atlantic & Chesapeake Bay water temperatures in the
40s.
These reports are from the other 2 VA NWS offices. [Old record & date
that was set in parenthesis.]
Blacksburg 72 [68, 1965]
Bluefield 66 [tied from 1990]
Ronoake 72 [68, 1990]
Wash DC, Dulles Airport, 66 [64, 1990]
Wash DC, Reagan National Apt, 70, [68, 1949}
My high was 68.0 (at 1:41pm) after a "low" of 35.8 at 5:32am. The 68 was
2 degrees above the local old record, from 1949. At the airport, it
reached 70. Winds were south 5-10mph during the day, but in the evening
increased from the southwest. The airport had sustained winds around
15mph. My PWG was 26mph, at 10:48pm. The low windchill of 31 was 8:01am.
The barometer fell a half inch, to 29.74 by midnight.
Records for Feb here are around 70. The last Feb record was 70 on
2/13/1999. Ten days later, a record low of 13 was set.
This warming is even more outstanding because there was less than 25% of
possible sunshine.

Dulles Apt recorded the ceiling around 20k' Fri afternoon.
And as i write this at 1:35am Sat, We are an outlandish 62.5, and just
1.5 degrees from the Sat daily record.
With about a half dozen robins to choose from, these 2 get the spotlight
this time.

I have several maple trees in my yard. And they seem to be confused from
the April like heat the last 48 hours. Reality check just hours away.
