Winchester VA
Lt to moderate snow began at 5am, and was over with about around
10:30am. It was very wet, accumulating 1.5, to 2" in areas shaded by the
afternoon sun. The snow melted within 5 hours of falling.
Roads in town had a slush on them, but city schools went on time.
However in Frederick Co, there was an hour delay. As conditions
worsened, the administrators decided to cancel schools for elementary
students at 8:45am.
Several nearby counties had delays or closings.
This storm produced greatly varying amounts of snow. In the western
section, on the edge of mnts, had only a third of inch. Many of the
other reports from my county were in the 1-2" range.
I saw no total above 1" in the mountain zones.
After the snow ended, it quickly became partly sunny. The low was 31.4
at 7:25am, the high was 45.7 at 2:47pm. A PWG of 21mph happened at
5:01am. The low windchill was 22, at 7:48pm.
