Winchester (nw) VA
I have been busy lately, so once again, I am posting 3 days worth of wx.

Wed 01/03

A sunny start in the AM, then increased cirrus & vapor trails in the
afternoon, leading to this gorgeous sunset. The low was 18.2 at 7:38am,
the high 33.2 at 2;41pm. A PWG of 19mph at 3:29am, and a low windchill
of -10 at 5:03am.

Thur 01/04

The old snow continues to evaporate, down to trace amounts in about 45%
areal coverage. Snow flurries fell through out the day, but did not
accumulate, with partly to mostly cloudy skies.

The low was 20.8 at 3am, the high was 36.7 at 3:04am. A PWG was 20mph at
2:22pm, w/ a low windchill of 2 below at 9:20am.

Fri 01/05

The NWS talked about inch, probably less, from 8am to late pm. But it
arrived at 6am, and was over with, for the most part, before 10am. SF's
continued till 11am.

It was necessary for the NWS to rewrite the forecast 5 times (up from
the average 2, generally to catch up on mistakes. At 9am, winter wx
advisory was added, as a 1-2" accumulation. At 1pm, the WWA was dropped,
and wording was changed to SF's.

The Fri evening forecast was changed from becoming partly cloudy to 30-%
chance of light snow, to take in the likelihood that snow in the Ohio
Valley would reach us, (Was on radar even at 5pm).

I missed the snowstorm... slept right thru it. Except i glanced out
about 6:25am when it was snowing heavily. The ASOS at the airport (based
on visibility reports) had snow falling between 6 & 9am. A low
visibility was 1 mile in the 6am hour, & generally 2.5 to 5 miles.

The total accumulation was 2", (melted about .20"). The low was 20.3 at
4:07am, the high was 37.5 at 9:31pm. A PWG of 18mph was at 9:30pm, The
low windchill was 9 at 1:04am.

As i slept, others were busy. Here my street had been plowed & treated,
leaving a few thin slush patches. However the intensity of the snow
earlier closed about half of local school systems, the others went an
hour or 2 late.

Also, a neighbor shovelled the driveway. The only "work' left for me was
at my back door to the front, a 20 minute job. (I love shovelling snow,
especially when it is not heavy).

During Fri evening, more snow showers are moving at us from the Ohio
River area, and i would not be surprised to see more accumulation.

About 2am Sat, a state trooper reported an inch of new snow on untreated
roadways west of Mt. Jackson (Shenadoah Co), with falling snow.
