Winter Storm Report 1145am est
Snow continues to fall in showers and flurries here in Asheville. Looks as though the event is pretty much over here. Still snowing pretty heavily with a snowband to my south in Henderson County, where they have received as much as 5 1/2 inches. Here I have recorded 4 inches. Haywood County reports some 7 inches, Transylvania county 7 inches, Mt Pisgah 7 inches, Polk county 2 1/2 inches.
Winter storm warnings have been reduced to advisories for an additional inch or so this afternoon, but dewpoints are dropping rapidly, and cloud tops warming. Many streets are in better shape now here in Buncombe county, but to my south things are still very hazardous. Areas expected to get hit hard in the midlands saw little if any snow, as the moisture wrap-around from the Atlantic low never materialized. Areas east of the Raliegh-Durham area however, have seen up to 4 inches of snow, and could receive up to 8 before the storm exits out to sea.
