Winter Storm Report 745am est
Snow has begun to fall at a much heavier rate here in Asheville 2 mi. west of downtown. Winds are strong and gusty, sometimes breaking 25 mph. Don't see that happening at the official weather station 9 mi south of here. About 1.5 inches are on the ground now, and roads have become snow covered in places. Snow has been falling at this rate for about 1-1/2 hours now. Don't see much more in the wings on radar, as this snow is still coming from the upper low over w. Georgia. Still waiting for the offshore low to fully form and intensify. Don't know if that will affect me much at all, will wait and see the track. The new discussion has dropped the snow totals expected here to 2-4 inches by late afternoon. Still, there are some talks of convective snow bands forming later this morning. Will post again later as conditions warrant.
