Colder weather moved into Florida overnight after some beneficial
rains fell across the central peninsula. Amounts of .25-.50 were common.
The coldest temperature in the state this morning Wednesday 11/15/00
was 28 deg. in Alachua, north of Gainesville. Other notable temperatures
were 30 at Crestview, 31 at Cross City and 33 at Jacksonville.
Tallahassee reported 38, once again demonstrating that the cities'
reputation in the media as the coldest is incorrect.
The coldest temperature on the peninsula was 40 at Brooksville. Other
notable temperatures were 41 at Citra and 41 in Plant City. At
strawberry plant level here in west Plant City I observed a temperature
of 36.
Wind chills across the north and central areas ranged from the low
20's to low 30's.
