On Monday 9/11/00 with dry air moving into the state around puny
looking T.S. Florence and High pressure ridging across the Carolina's,
north and central area's of the Florida peninsula experienced early fall
like minimum temperatures.
The normal rainy season thunderstorm pattern was totally nonexisent
yesterday and will be missing once again today. By mid September our
rainy season normally sputters to an end unless the tropics are active,
of which it can hang on through mid October.
A few selected minimum temperatures on the peninsula for Tuesday
9/12-
Alachua-63
Brooksville-63
Plant City-68
T.S. Florence looks pretty unimpresive to me on water vapor and
infrared imagery. Strengthening to a cat 1 hurricane is forcast for
later today.
More impressive to me is the area of disturbed weather east of
Nicaragua and SW of Jamaica. This area bears watching for a possible
track through the Yucatan Channel into the Gulf Of Mexico in future
days.
