A backdoor cold front moved through most of the state yesterday
afternoon and last night breaking the week long heat wave that saw all
time records broken in numerous cites across the state the last few
days. The high temperature at my station today was 96 degrees, the
first time since August 29 that the temperature did not reach 100
degrees.
Despite the frontal passage, there was still one daily record broken
today and two others tied along with DFW extending their days without
rain streak.
Amarillo - High today of 102 degrees replaced the previous daily
record of 99 degrees set in 1947.
Austin - High today of 100 degrees tied the previous daily record
originally set in 1990.
Houston - High today of 97 degrees tied the previous daily record
originally set in 1999.
DFW Airport - DFW extended the all time record of days without rain to
68 days.
