For Saturday, September 2, 2000

The high temperature at my station in Temple,
Texas (120 miles South of Dallas) reached 108.7
degrees at 3:14 p.m. this afternoon. This is the
highest temperature ever recorded at my station.
The previous high temperature was 107.4 degrees on
August 3, 1998.

A severe thunderstorm moved through the area
between 4:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. This storm brought
gusty NW winds to 25 mph, brief heavy rain and
extensive CG lightning. Temperatures dropped to
the mid 70's with the storms passage. Trees were
reported down and roof damage was reported in the
small town of Rogers in east Bell County, about 15
miles east of my location.
