On the evening of Saturday 8/27/00 the west central/SW Florida and
Tampa Bay area was blasted by widespread severe thunderstorms. Four
severe thunderstorm warnings were put out, Numerous reports of large
hail, wind damage and flooding rains of 3-6", fell across the area.
At 5:40 pm I went outside to photograph a cell to my NNE, that was
developing a funnel cloud. Unfortunately numerous close lightning
strikes chased me back inside without photographs. This cell caused the
airplane damage listed below in the local storm reports.
