[STORMREPORTS] Today's Storms

Hi All!

Well, we survived this morning's severe storm that literally blew up right
overhead. VERY frequent lightning, heavy rain (1.15 inches in less than an
hour's time) and pea-sized hail (.25 inches). Winds were gusting 20-30 mph
Beaufort. Quite a rude awakening, as we'd been out late last night at a
concert and attempting to see the Aurora, but too much cloud cover. We
slept in quite late, and the storm woke us up around 11:30 am as it started
thundering and intensifying. Had several CLOSE (too dang close, if you ask
me) lightning strikes, and lost power off and on for about a half hour.
Phoned in a Spotter report to NWS in Sterling, VA.

Now, on radar, it looks like there's more nastiness to my west/northwest,
which is where we get our t-storms from, normally. Saw a radar-indicated
tornado just across the Potomac River from me in northern Virginia (about 25
miles away). I wonder if Jason Breakiron is out chasing it now. Looks like
it's moved into western Montgomery county, and is still showing some signs
of possible rotation, so will have to keep a close eye on it. No warnings
issued so far, although NOAA has been quite busy today.

My high temp today, because of the early storm, was 73, although areas
around me that didn't get a storm have been higher. It mayor may not go up
before nightfall, depends on the storms west of me. Just hope the power
doesn't go off again--all electric houses are the pits!!
