Winchester (nw) VA
After having close calls w/ storms Saturday evening, one finally passed
overhead. This cell moved from west thru southeast about 9:30pm, and had
a vivid lightning display. Total rain only .25", but other parts of the
county have had several inches of rain inches of rain since Fri. I have
only measured .64" (as of 7:45pm Sun). Winds during the storm were
light, under the 15 mph pwg (measured at noon).

This bolt was about 2 miles away. However the flash obscures the bolt.

This bolt was about 4 wsw of my location.

And finally, this strike was under a mile to my south (behind me). A few
minutes a strike nearly overhead would send me inside from the carport
(for a few minutes).

I heard of no damage reports on the scanner, so perhaps these bolts hit
trees instead of houses.
Stormy Sunday:
The thunderhead below was part of a severe complex 35 miles NNE of my
location abouyt 3:30pm.

Our (heaviest?) rain Sunday came about 5pm, with a dying thunderstorm
(.10"). A shower fell in parts of the area about 1pm. (TR here, .05"
about 1 mile N of me). As i write this, what is left of a former heavy
storm is about to start raining on us.
Sun low 60, the high 77.
