Spawned by a vorticity maximum moving SE today over west central
Florida in conjunction with PWAT's of 2+", numerous waves (actually an
MCC) of severe thunderstorms repeatedly lashed the Tampa Bay area
counties of Hillsborough, Pasco, Pinellas and Manatee County's on
Saturday 7/15/00.
Confirmed hail, funnel clouds, waterspouts, tornadoes and much urban
flooding from 6-10" of rainfall occured.
At approximately 12:45pm I photographed the following wedge funnel
cloud 1/4 mile to my west. It was moving south at approximately 40 mph,
parallelling I-75 at Fowler Avenue in NE Tampa. At the time of the photo
intense frequent intra and CG lightning was occuring and prevented me
from getting more photos. Fellow Tampa CASI member Joe Dube also
witnessed the event.
