[STORMREPORTS] Severe Storms In Tampa Bay, Fl

Locally severe thunderstorms erupted in west central Florida during the
evening of Tuesday 7/4/00. The east coast seabreeze passed my location
4.2 miles west of Plant City at 6:00 pm. Here is a radar image from WFLA
TV 8 Tampa at 6:15 pm showing a developing line of severe thunderstorms
as the east and west coast seabreezes collided to my west along a north
south line between Ruskin, Brandon, Mango/Seffner, Temple Terrace and
Thonotosassa. Up to 5" of rainfall and flooding, quarter size hail and
wind damage occured with the storms.

Here is a photo taken by me at 5:30 pm on Tuesday 7/4/00 of the line of
cumulus congestus clouds looking SE, as the east coast seabreeze pulse
approaches.

Here is a photo taken by me at 6:00 pm on Tuesday 7/4/00 of a developing
thunderstorm overhead, as the east coast seabreeze pulse arrives at my
location. I only received .01" of rain with a couple of rumbles of
thunder.

Here is a photo taken by me at 6:10 pm on Tuesday 7/4/00 as the atlantic
and gulf seabreeezes collide just to my west, creating an explosion of
CB's.

Here is a photo taken by me at 6:25 pm on Tuesday 7/4/00 of the
developing and lowering wall cloud. NWS Ruskin issued a severe
thunderstorm warning for this cell at 6:24 pm.

Here is a photo taken by me at 6:30 pm on Tuesday 7/4/00 as the wall
cloud continues to develop. CCW rotation was observed at this time, with
numerous cloud to ground lightning strikes.

Here is a photo taken by me at 6:40 pm on Tuesday 7/4/00 as the line of
severe thunderstorms to my west back build toward my location. Much
cloud to ground lightning was occuring at the time of the photo, as well
as strong winds which were damaging trees and powerlines to my SW in
nearby Brandon.
