Flood Summary
Weekend Flooding in the Midwest
Over the weekend, serious flash flooding occurred in Iowa, Missouri, Kansas
and Nebraska. In Clinton and Henry Counties, Iowa, two people drowned as a
result of flash floods there. There were evacuations in St. Charles County,
Missouri and sandbagging in Lincoln and Warren Counties, Missouri.
Widespread flooding occurred over several rivers in the Midwest,
particularly along the central Mississippi River. More rain is expected on
Monday from Texas northeastward through the central Mississippi and southern
Ohio River basins into Indiana. Localized flooding is possible in Texas.

FLASH FLOODING:
Flood/Flash Flood Warnings and/or Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisories
were issued over the weekend for the following locations (in alphabetical

RIVER FLOODING:
Mississippi River: The river continues above flood stage at several
locations from Iowa to Missouri. The weekend rains and additional rain on
Monday will mean continuing flooding, particularly along the central
Mississippi River.

Red River: A slow rise is expected this week along the river from East Grand
Forks, ND to Pembina, ND. The river is expected to rise to near flood stage
at Pembina in early July.

Rivers and streams with locations either above flood stage or expected to
rise above flood stage include (in alphabetical order, by state):

Arkansas: the Cache and Ouachita Rivers

Illinois: the Big Muddy, Rock, Upper Illinois, Kankakee, Little Calumet,
Kaskaskia and Mississippi Rivers; the Thorn Creek

Indiana: the Wabash and Kankakee Rivers; the Wildcat Creek

Iowa: the Wapsipinicon, Iowa, Mississippi, Des Moines and Cedar Rivers

Kansas: the Fall River

Minnesota: the Buffalo, Wild Rice and South Buffalo Rivers

Missouri: the 102, Illinois, Platte, Mississippi, Blackwater, La Moine and
Missouri Rivers

Nebraska: the Little and Big Nemaha Rivers; the Weeping Water Creek

North Dakota: the Red and Sheyenne Rivers
